Why They’re Not Lazy: Understanding and Supporting Neurodivergent Learners
A free 60-minute webinar for tutors and other educators who want to better support autistic and ADHD learners in their sessions — without relying on outdated strategies or rigid expectations.
Date: Thursday 19th June
Time: 8:00pm
Location: Live on Zoom (replay available)
If you’ve ever thought...
"They could do the work if they just tried."
"They’re not putting in any effort."
"They just won’t engage, no matter what I do."
...you’re not a bad tutor. You’re just working with learners who need something different — and no one gave you the training to see it.
This free webinar will help you understand what’s really going on for neurodivergent learners who seem disengaged, unmotivated or even defiant.
You’ll leave with 3 simple, practical changes you can make in your sessions straight away to better support autistic and ADHD learners.
What we’ll cover:
✅ The three most damaging myths about autistic and ADHD learners — and why they persist.
✅ What’s really going on when a learner seems lazy, rude or resistant.
✅ Three things you can change immediately in your tutoring sessions to reduce anxiety, build trust and increase engagement.
This webinar is for you if:
You’re a tutor who wants to support your ND learners more effectively.
You’re frustrated by learners who disengage or shut down.
You were taught to manage behaviour and follow plans — but they don’t seem to work anymore.
You want to do better, but you’re not sure where to start.
Hosted by Erin, autistic tutor and neurodiversity specialist.
Hi, I’m Erin — an autistic adult and experienced tutor who specialises in supporting neurodivergent learners. I’ve spent years working with autistic and ADHD young people in both mainstream and alternative education, and I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to this work.
I know what it’s like to feel unsure about how to reach a learner who seems shut down, distracted or resistant — and I also know how powerful it is when we shift our approach and start seeing behaviour through a neurodivergent lens.
In this webinar, I’ll share what I’ve learned about creating safer, more effective tutoring spaces so you can feel better equipped to support the young people in front of you.
